Srinagar:Police have arrested five drug peddlers in Srinagar, Kupwara, and Anantnag districts, recovering a significant quantity of contraband substances from their possession.
In Srinagar, a police team intercepted a suspicious individual near Sacred Mission School at General Road Allochibagh Bund. The suspect attempted to flee but was apprehended. Upon searching him, police recovered a substantial quantity of contraband. He was identified as Majid Shafi Najar, alias Choota Chaama, a resident of Chan Mohalla Allochibagh.
In Kupwara, police personnel from Police Post Drugmulla, during a checkpoint at FCI Bumhama, stopped two individuals and recovered 1,220 grams of charas-like substance from them. The accused were identified as Aijaz Ahmad Ganie of Khumriyal and Hakim Din Khatana of Gagal Katiyawali.
Meanwhile, in Anantnag, police from Aishmuqam station intercepted two drug peddlers near Budreshan and recovered 7 kilograms of cannabis husk. The accused, identified as Owais Mansoor Bhat and Gh Mohd Bhat, both residents of Charakpora Hapatnard, were taken into custody.
Police have registered cases under relevant sections of law at respective police stations, and investigations are underway.
