Srinagar:Senior National Conference (NC) leader and law maker Tanvir Sadiq on Saturday expressed confidence that statehood for Jammu and Kashmir will be restored in the coming months.
Speaking to reporters, Sadiq questioned the need for skepticism regarding statehood, emphasizing that the people of J&K should trust the commitments made at various levels.
“We have the verdict of the Supreme Court, the assurance of the Prime Minister and Home Minister, and a resolution from the elected government of Jammu and Kashmir (on Statehood restoration) . So why should we doubt ,” he said.
Sadiq who is also the chief spokesman of the party said they will wait for some time for restoration of Statehood.
“After that, as Omar (Abdullah) sahib has said, plan B, plan C, everything is there. We have complete faith that in the next few months, we will get statehood,” he added.
Sadiq also criticized the BJP and PDP and alleged that the both parties are united. He accused them of playing political games rather than working for the welfare of the people.
The NC chief spokesman said the PDP considers itself as holier than thou.
” The present mess in Jammu and Kashmir is because of the follies of the PDP,” he said.
When asked that Mehbooba Mufti had sought support on liquor ban bill, Sadiq said the National Conference has a majority in the J&K Assembly and they have a party manifesto and will follow it.
” When PDP was in power why didn’t they do it,” Sadiq asked.
