Srinagar:
Jammu and Kashmir police on Friday destroyed 121 kilos of narcotic substances that were seized from the summer capital.
The destroyed substances included heroin, brown sugar, crystal meth, fukki, charas, and codeine phosphate, among others.
Police said the Drug Disposal Committee of Srinagar district destroyed 121 kilograms of seized narcotic substances as part of the nation-wide campaign initiated by the Home Minister of India.
These drugs were confiscated in connection with multiple FIRs registered across Srinagar, police said in a statement.
It added that the destruction process was carried out after obtaining the necessary orders from the competent court.
The committee, comprising senior officers from various wings of the police, conducted the operation at the designated incineration facility in Lassipora, Pulwama.
“This initiative underscores the commitment of the Srinagar Police to eradicate drug abuse and contribute to the broader national effort to create a drug-free society,” the statement said.
