Jammu :
Two day workshop was organised on “Internship and Project Work for Teacher Educators” by P.G. Department of Education, University of Jammu, under Special Assistance Programme  (SAP) at the level of DRS –II  in the seminar hall of the Department of Psychology. The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. Manoj Dhar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu.   In his inaugural address he said that it is a proud moment for the Department of Education to host such an important workshop on very important and relevant themes of internship and project work. He said that understanding of these concepts in the present scenario is the need of an hour. He appreciated the different component of internships and projects work like ‘Each one teach one’ and ‘Plantation drive’ and also stressed on protection of environment and control of pollution. He also encouraged the participants of the workshop to give in writing the achievement of the objectives of the present two days workshop on internship and project work.  Earlier, Welcome address was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Rajeev Rattan Sharma, Head of Department who also discussed the theme of the workshop highlighting its relevance for teacher educators in the present scenario. Prof. Mubarak Singh spoke about the concept of internship and project work and discussed the different components of internship and project work. Prof. Singh gave due importance to internship programme, its planning and organisation, Four technical sessions were taken by Prof. (Dr.) Renu Nanda, who stressed on different components of school internship and cycle of internship, Prof. ( Dr.) Darshana Sharma explained the need of school internship in all the four semesters of B.Ed. programme. Dr. Madhu Singh framed objectives of internship through different activities by the participants.

It is noteworthy to mention here that the workshop had been designed to impart knowledge of internship and project work along with hands on training to the teacher educators of different colleges of Education affiliated to University of Jammu. The major objectives of the workshop were to enable the teacher educators to expand their knowledge and understanding of internship and project work.

Dr. Sheetal Sharma and Dr. Ana Bali participated in group activities along with participants respectively. Dr. Kajal Manhas presented the formal vote of thanks.

The workshop was attended by over 46 participants from different colleges of Education. 27 B.Ed. colleges of education representing almost all the districts of Jammu, 04 Government Degree Colleges and Bhadrwah campus of University of Jammu participated in the workshop.

Among others  Principals, Assistant professors, Lecturers, Senior Lecturers of different colleges of Education, research scholars, faculty members of the Department of Education namely Dr. S.K. Panda, Dr. Kajal Manhas, and Dr. Niharika Panda of Department of Education, Dr. Arti Bakshi (Head) Department of Psychology and Dr. Neeraj Sharma University of Jammu participated in the programme.
