Srinagar:Amid a complete shutdown in Sopore and Zaingeer areas of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday clashes erupted between protesting youth and government forces, sources said.
The shutdown call has been given by pro-freedom leaders against the killing of Hurriyat Activist Hakim-Ul-Rehman, by unknown gunmen on Sep 8 at Bomai area of Sopre.
Witnesses said that youth assembled at Arampora area of Sopore and shouting anti-India and pro-freedom slogans, they pelted stones on government forces already deployed in the area.
They said that forces responded with tear gas shells triggering clashes.
Local sources said that youth identified as Zahoor Ahmad of Sopore sustained injuries during clashes and has been shifted to Sopore hospital.
