Sopore:Sopore Police have arrested one notorious bootlegger and recovered illicit liquor from his possession.
A police party of Police Post Bus Stand headed by IC PP Bus Stand Sub Inspector Nazir Ahmad under the supervision of SDPO Sopore Shri. Sarfaraz Bashir-JKPS and SHO PS Sopore Insp. Ayaz Gellani, during patrolling at Bus Stand Sopore intercepted one suspected person.
During the search Police Party was able to recover 11 bottles of illicit liquor from his possession.
On preliminary verification he disclosed his identity as Farooq Ahmad Ganie @Farooq Jandgur S/O Ghulam Nabi Ganie R/O Bunpora Langate Handwara.
In this connection, case under relevant sections of Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Sopore & investigation has been initiated.
