NIA files chargesheet against suspended J&K DSP Davinder Singh, 5 others in terror case

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against six persons including former DSP of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Davinder Singh and Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Syed Naveed in a terror case.

Davinder Singh was suspended from Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) police after he was arrested on January 11 this year while ferrying two Hizb-ul-Mujahideen terrorists in a vehicle on the Srinagar-Jammu Highway. 

The case was initially lodged by J&K police which was later taken over by the NIA.

The other accused in the case are two Hizb-ul terrorists Naveed Mushtaq alias Babu, Rafi Ahmed Rather and a law student Irfan Shafi Mir. The three were arrested with the DSP from a checkpoint on the highway at Wanpoh area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

The fifth person to be arrested was Naveed's brother Irfan Mushtaq. He was held on January 23 for allegedly being part of the conspiracy and the sixth accused arrested int he case was the ex-president of cross-LoC trade Tanveer Ahmed Wani.

He was held after he came under the radar of security forces for giving money to Hizb-ul terrorist Naveed Babu, a former Special Police Officer, who left the police to join terror ranks.

Terror charges
The special cell had brought Singh to Delhi from Hira Nagar Jail in Jammu and Kashmir. The case relates to the planning/ execution of terror attacks in Delhi and other parts of the country.

According to Delhi Police, Sayed Naveed Mushtaq, the commander of Shopian district of Hizbul Mujahideen, and others were planning to execute terror attacks in Delhi and other parts of the country as well as carry out targeted killings of protected persons.

The FIR said the youth of Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab are being trained for carrying out terrorist activities.

The FIR also mentioned the mafia's D Company and Chhota Shakeel. According to the FIR, Delhi Police's Special Cell had received an input that the D Company, run by fugitive Indian underworld kingpin Dawood Ibrahim, is funding pro-Khalistan terrorist organisations in Punjab.
