Jammu:The Hindi language was first adopted by the Constituent Assembly of India as the official language of the Republic of India on September 14th 1949. From that year onwards, the day was celebrated as Hindi Diwas throughout the globe. GDC Vijaypur commemorated the day by organizing a National Level Online Hindi Poem (Kavita) Writing Competition. The aim of the competition was to raise awareness about the significance and richness of Hindi language, to orient the students about the importance of Hindi language and to spread the message that Hindi language is the soul of our cultural heritage. Students from various Colleges and Universities participated in the competition by submitting emotional, heart-touching poems, which covered all aspects of human emotions, relations, religion, patriotism and societal issues. The first position was shared by Arjun Rana, GDC Bhaderwah; Jasreen Chauhan, SKUAST Jammu and Manish Singh, GDC Vijaypur. The second position was shared by Shuvam Mankotia, GDC Billawar; Manik Kumar, GCET Jammu and Miswa Kousar, GDC Vijaypur. The third position was secured by Poonam Sharma, BMS Institute of Para Medical Sciences. Consolation was awarded to Rajesh Kumar, Bhagwant University, Ajmer, Rajasthan. E-Certificates were awarded to the winners of the competition. The competition was coordinated by Ms. Sonia Bhagat, Head Department of Hindi. The organizing committee comprised of Prof. Anil Bhagat, Dr. Sunil Kumar and Dr. Shittal Sharma. Dr. Sangeeta Sudan, Principal of the College congratulated the organizers and participants of the competition for making the event a great success. She asserted that Hindi is the cultural identity and a symbol of love and unity for the people of India and we need to stay tuned with Hindi language as it is our official language and the backbone of the nation. She exhorted parents to enhance the Hindi communication skills of their children so that they can enjoy the language and participate in various competitions.
