Srinagar:Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday said that the government is using force, imprisonment, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) to enforce peace in Kashmir.Addressing the youth wing delegates of the PDP at her Srinagar residence, Mufti reaffirmed the party’s commitment to peaceful and democratic solutions. She expressed gratitude for the youth’s efforts during the recent parliamentary elections, a statement issued by the party reads.
She further highlighted the alarming unemployment levels in Jammu and Kashmir, and said, “Unfortunately, due to unprecedented unemployment levels, many young people have fallen victim to depression and drug abuse.”
Furthermore, she emphasised the PDP’s unwavering dedication to peace-building initiatives, including ceasefire agreements, amnesty for thousands of young people, dialogue with separatists, and infrastructure improvements aimed at sustainable peace in Kashmir.
Mufti also welcomed Jamaat-e-Islami’s participation in the democratic process, underscoring the PDP’s advocacy for political engagement and reconciliation across diverse ideologies.
