Srinagar:
Belying the tall claims of Kashmir University of keeping the environment clean by not allowing the entry of private vehicles inside the campus, J&K Students Movement has come down heavily on the varsity officials for violating the norms.

“University authorities are still allowing the blue-eyed students to enter the campus with their vehicles and others are stopped at the main gates. It is complete injustice with others,” said Naveed Bukhtiyar, General Secretary J&K Students Movement in a statement issued here.

“It has been mentioned in the order that the vehicles of the University staff will be parked in the parking slots at the campus, but still their vehicles are seen parked on the road side. None among the staff is taking the order seriously nor is university serious in taking up any step to implement its order in letter and spirit,” Bukhtiyar said.

“If they want to ban the vehicles movement, they should ban it for every student and the faculty. We will not tolerate if they will only allow their kith and kins to enter with their vehicles,” he said adding “We will be compelled to protest if the varsity showcased the same approach.”

They also demanded the university officials run the eco-friendly or battery-powered buses from main gates to the respective departments. (KNB)
