The Government Medical College (GMC) and its associated hospitals in Anantnag have reported a year of unprecedented achievements, highlighting their commitment to delivering high-quality healthcare services to the community.

In the last financial year, 971,387 patients received care in the Outpatient Department (OPD), while 74,569 patients were treated in the Inpatient Department (IPD) across the GMC Anantnag's associated hospitals. A total of 18,888 surgeries were performed, including 4,325 Caesarean sections, serving a wide range of medical needs.

Principal GMC Anantnag, Prof. (Dr.) Rukhsana Najeeb, expressed her gratitude to the dedicated staff for their remarkable efforts in maintaining high standards of healthcare. She specifically noted the achievements at MMABM Hospital Janglatmandi, where 595,222 patients were seen in the OPD and 47,155 in the IPD. The hospital performed over 8,838 surgeries, including various specialties, and conducted 636,260 laboratory tests, 3,154 endoscopic procedures, and 2,958 echocardiograms. Additionally, 6,920 dialysis sessions were completed, emphasizing the hospital's comprehensive care capabilities.

The MCH Hospital Sherbagh, also under GMC Anantnag's management, recorded 356,974 OPD visits and treated over 27,414 inpatients. This hospital performed 5,026 surgeries, including 4,324 Caesarean sections, and conducted 235,695 laboratory tests, demonstrating its crucial role in serving the healthcare needs of the community.

The Department of Radiology, serving both MMABM Hospital and MCH Hospital, carried out 45,497 ultrasounds, 89,874 X-rays, 12,635 CT scans, and 53,821 ECGs, providing critical diagnostic services. The Department of PSM at the Urban Health Centre Brakpora and Rural Health Centre Sagam offered comprehensive healthcare to 19,191 OPD patients, along with 9,010 laboratory tests and 2,041 dental procedures.

GMC Anantnag also organized over 25 specialist and superspecialist health camps across District Anantnag and Kulgam, benefiting thousands of patients as part of the Ayushman Bhava Campaign.

The college aims to enhance its healthcare infrastructure with the introduction of modular operating theaters and dedicated intensive care units (ICUs), along with a new Cath Lab at MMABM Hospital, planned installations for digital radiography, and MRI facilities. The institution is expanding its scope of services, including cancer surgeries, pacemaker implementations, Fibroscan services, and CT-guided biopsies.

Currently, GMC Anantnag is home to over 118 Post Graduate DNB candidates across various clinical and non-clinical departments. The college intends to start MD and MS post-graduate courses, with the process already underway. It's also noteworthy that the first batch of MBBS and Paramedical students will be graduating this year.
