Srinagar:
All is not well in the Guptar coalition formed to restore the provisions of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. Muzaffar Baig, the founding member of PDP, resigned from his party on Saturday over seat sharing in the DDC election. It is being told that Baig was not satisfied with the seat sharing in North Kashmir. PDP sources said that Baig has informed PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti about leaving the party.
All the prominent leaders of Kashmir were taken into custody after the provisions of Article 370 were lifted. Recently Mehbooba Mufti and Farooq and Omar Abdullah were released from custody. After this, these leaders started to unite for the restoration of article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. They have formed a Guptar coalition and are planning to participate in the upcoming DDC election.
There is also an ongoing debate over the seat-sharing of the parties in the election. It was told that PDP leader Beg is angry with his party for seat sharing in North Kashmir. He has also resigned from the party expressing displeasure. Significantly, Baig has been associated with the party since the inception of PDP since 1998. He has informed the resignation to Mehbooba Mufti. The People’s Alliance for Group Declaration (PAGD) consists of the National Conference, PDP, People’s Conference and CPM. Apart from this, Congress also has their support.
