kargil:Five persons were killed and two others injured in a tragic road accident in Kargil district of Ladakh on Tuesday.
The accident took place in Shilikchey area in Kargil between a Scorpio and and tipper.
A senior police official told Greater Kashmir that five people lost their lives while two others sustained injuries in a road accident involving a scorpio vehicle and a tipper.
He said both the vehicles plunged into a gorge during the mishap.
The official said soon after the accident Police Station Kargil along with the volunteers swiftly responded to the incident, initiating a rescue operation.
All the victims were rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared five individuals dead. The other two victims remain in critical condition.
Officials said that three of the deceased were locals, while the remaining two were residents of Uttar Pradesh.
The Kargil Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
