Confederation celebrates 130th Birth Anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar at 100 places across J&K connected through Virtual mode

All India Confederation of SC ST OBC Organisations observed the 130th Birth Anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr BR Ambedkar here at Jammu today. RK Kalsotra, State President Confederation, flagged off a virtual celebration from Ambedkar Park, Resham Ghar, Jammu. 

RK Kalsotra said that through the virtual mode people from around 100 places across J&K connected to observe the celebrations. There were representations from Samba, Kathua, RS Pura, Jammu, Reasi, Poonch, Rajouri, Ramban, Srinagar, Badgam,Kishtwar, Doda, Paddar, Anantnag, Kupwara, Shopian, Baramulla, Pulwama and many other places and many places at Tehsil. Block and at village level also

Kalsotra added that Bharat Ratna Dr BR Ambedkar was harbinger of the depressed classes who not only drafted the constitution of India but laid the foundation for a mass movement against the cultural hegemony created by the oppressors. The day is celebrated as World Equality Day as it enshrines the principles of equality on not just men but also women and other vulnerable sections of the society. 

The Fundamental Rights which are part of the Constitution give voice to the voiceless. Kalsotra highlighted that in the past there have been various dilution of the principles of the Constitution. Various executive and judicial actions have hinted at dilution of the rights of vulnerable sections. Increased privatisation, dilution of provisions of reservation and now with the lateral entry in the jobs, have threatened these principles. 

Kalsotra also added the personality traits of Ambedkar which included the titles like Student of the World. He said that we should take inspiration from the personality of Dr BR Ambedkar and strive for betterment of the society.
