New Delhi :
Army Chief Manoj Mukund Naravane warned of infiltration bid at the international border saying terrorists will infiltrate through a network of tunnels.

This statement from the Army Chief comes after the Border Security Force (BSF) troopers discovered an underground tunnel on the international border in J&K's Samba district last week.

BSF officials said an underground tunnel was discovered by a patrol party which could have been used for infiltration by Pakistan-backed terrorists.

BSF unearths tunnel on the international border
The four Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists killed in an encounter near the Nagrota Toll Plaza on the Jammu-Srinagar highway last week had infiltrated from across the international border in Samba sector.

Pakistan had resorted to unprovoked heavy firing using mortars and heavy machine guns in the Samba sector a day before the infiltration indicating that it was carried out to help the terrorists cross the border.

The killing of these four heavily-armed terrorists by the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on November 19 once again exposed Pakistan’s fresh attempt to sabotage J&K’s DDC polls.

A senior intelligence agency official told IANS recently that Islamabad is exploiting the International Border (IB) in Punjab and Jammu area to push in the maximum number of terrorists before the onset of winters.

Pak wants to increase the violence level in Kashmir
Islamabad wants to increase the level of violence in the Valley but is unable to do so due to the heavy presence of alert Indian security forces.

The Indian intelligence has alerted security establishment saying that Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence has been given an ultimatum to push in maximum infiltrators along with weapons into Kashmir before the onset of winters.

In August, the Border Security Force (BSF) detected a 20 feet long tunnel within the Indian territory at the International Border in Jammu.

According to a BSF statement a patrol party during an anti-tunnelling exercise had carried out an in-depth scanning of the area detecting the tunnel which was approximately 20 feet long and 3-4 feet in diameter.
