Srinagar:

Four persons died due to coronavirus and 143 tested positive for it, taking the total caseload in Jammu and Kashmir to 3,467, officials said on Saturday.

Three septuagenarian men, one each from Srinagar, Kupwara, and Shopian in Kashmir, and a 62-year-old woman from Jammu fell prey to Covid, officials said.

So far, 40 persons have died due to the virus in J&K, 35 in the Valley and five in Jammu.

“In the UT of J&K, 143 cases have been reported since our last update yesterday, which include 43 from Jammu and 100 from Kashmir,” read the media bulletin on novel coronavirus.

Forty patients have recovered and have been discharged from various hospitals.

Srinagar district has reported 10 deaths, the highest in any district in J&K, followed by seven in Baramulla, Anantnag five, Kulgam and Shopian four each, Jammu three, Budgam and Kupwara two each, Udhampur and Bandipora one each.

The official bulletin said that out of 143 positive cases, 64 were reported from Shopian, Bandipora 14, Kathua 11, Jammu 10, Baramulla nine, Udhampur six, Rajouri, Ramban and Budgam four each, Poonch, Kulgam, Srinagar and Anantnag three each, Samba and Reasi two each and Doda one.

A majority of the cases, 2,615, have been reported from Kashmir. Jammu has reported 852 cases.
