Jammu:
Prof R.D. Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu today inaugurated the Inter-Department Tournaments organized by the Campus Sports Committee of the University of Jammu in the events of Cricket, Volleyball, T.T. , Badminton, Carom, and Chess at the Gymnasium Hall, Volleyball Court and Cricket Ground of the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.

 

The Vice-Chancellor was introduced with the participating team players of the various Departments of the University and while addressing the participants Prof. R.D.Sharma congratulated the organizers and advised the players to participate regularly in the Sports activities for being physically fit, mentally sound and socially adjustable.

 

Prof. Neeru Sharma the Chairperson, Campus Sports Committee, University of Jammu and Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba Director Sports & Physical Education were also present there and briefed the Vice-Chancellor regarding the organization of the said Inter-Department Tournaments.

Other present on the occasion were Sh. Akhilesh Sharma, Sh. Ravish Vaid, Sh. Vikas Karlopia, Sh. Jai Bharat and Sh. P.D. Singh

 

The said Inter-Department Tournaments are being organized under the supervision of Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu.

Result of the today’s matches:

 

Table Tennis (Men):

1st Match: Department of Physical Education beat Department of Geography by 2 -0.

2nd Match: SHTM beat Life Long Learning Department by 2-0.

 

Table Tennis (Women):

1st Match: Department of Economics beat Department of Physical Education by 2-0.

2nd Match: Law Department beat Department of Geology by 2-1.

 

Chess (Men):

1st Match: Sanskrit Department beat Mathematics Department by 2-0.

2nd Match: Geography Department beat MCA Department by 2-1.

 

Volleyball (Men):

1st Match: Chemistry Department beat The Law School by 2-1 sets with set score of 25-17, 20-15, 15-11.

2nd Match: Education Department the Law Department by 2-1 sets with set score of 25-20 & 25-15.

3rd Match: Physics Department beat Geography Department by 2-1 sets with set score of 25-22 & 27-25.

4th Match: Economics Department beat Geology Department by 2-1 sets with set score of 25-21 and 25-13.

5th Match: Electronics Department beat English Department by 2-1 sets with set score of 25-19 and 25-12.

 

Cricket (Men):

1st Match: Mathematics Department beat English Department by 47 runs.

English Department won the toss and chose to field first. Mathematics Department scored 110 runs by losing 4 wickets in 10 overs whereas, English Department team was all out in 9 overs with 63 runs.
