The residents of Syed Mohallah (B) of Hajin in  north Kashmir today hit the streets to stage a protest against the power development department (PDD) over their alleged failure to restore electricity in the area.

Dozens of residents, including women of Syed Mohallah (B) took to streets this morning and staged a protest against the alleged apathy of the power department. The protesters blocked Hajin Srinagar road causing disruption in smooth flow of traffic.

Angry protesters alleged that the department has failed to restore electricity in the area after the transformer developed snag. “Despite requests, the authorities are not paying attention to our problems. The transformer develops snag frequently plunging the area in darkness,” the protesters said.

Later, a police party led by SHO Hajin, visited the spot and assured the protesters that the matter will solved within two days. Following assurances from the police officer, the residents called off the protest.
