Srinagar:Former chief Minister and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday said that her party was fighting the parliamentary polls for safeguarding the Article 35 which grants special rights to the people of Jammu and Kashmir in the Indian constitution.
Addressing her party workers at circuit house in Shoipan, Mehbooba said that they were not contesting Lok Sabha elections for roads, electricity poles or water supply but for the protection of unique identity of the state.
Taking a jibe at the Congress for raising the pitch for the safeguard of Article 370, Mehbooba said that Ghulam Nabi Azad during his rule transferred hundreds of kanals of land to Amarnath shrine Board.
She also claimed that the PDP has already taken a lead over its opponents in the Anantnag district which went to polls Tuesday.
She also said that attempts were being made so that lesser number of people cast their ballot.
