There was overwhelming response to the 2nd State Level Mega Job Fest organized under the Ghar Ghar Rozgar mission of the Punjab government at the Rayat Bahra University here today.

Charanjit Singh Channi, Punjab Technical Education Minister, presided over the function Mega Job Fest. He was accorded a warm welcome on his arrival at the campus by Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chairman of the Rayat Bahra Group of Institutions and Dr V Rihani, Vice-Chancellor of the Rayat Bahra University.

Speaking on the occasion, Channi said that in the 2nd State level Mega Job Fairs more than 1400 companies from various fields had registered with the Punjab government to provide jobs to the youth of Punjab. He said that total 140 events would be organized during these Job Fairs at 30 different places across Punjab.

He said that last year 27,500 youths got jobs during the job fairs organized by the Punjab government and this year till now various companies had come forth with proposals to provide 50,000 jobs and this number is likely to go up steeply in the days to come.

Gurvinder Singh Bahra, Chairman of the Rayat Bahra Group of Institutions, said that this Job Mela is being organised in association with Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council. Apart from this, Beauty & wellness Sector Skill Council were also participating in this Mega Job Fair. 

He said there was immense talent available in Punjab and participation of students in large numbers from across Punjab is indication of that. These students will be the dropouts, ITIs, diploma, engineering graduate, postgraduate and students holding skill certification in any trade.

Dr V Rihani said more than 100+ companies from PAN India were participating in the job fair. He said such job fairs at the State-level would add another feather in the cap of Punjab by helping the youth not only of Punjab but also of other States studying in various institutions to get good placements.

Elaborating on the number of companies participating in the job fest Sandeep Kaura JMD said that 30 Companies from the Tourism & Hospitality Council with 2500 job vacancies, 12 companies from the Beauty & Wellness Council with 200 job vacancies and 60 other domain companies with 1100 job vacancies were participating.
