One Day National Seminar on Himalayan Environment, Ecosystem & Rural Livelihoods organized at Bhaderwah Campus JU

Jammu:
Department of Geography, Bhaderwah Campus, University of Jammu today organized one day national seminar on the theme “Himalayan Environment, Ecosystem Services and Rural Livelihoods”.

Prof. G. M. Bhat, Rector Bhaderwah Campus was the Chief Guest at the occasion. Dr. Sanjeev Sharma CSRD, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi was the keynote speaker of the seminar.

Dr. Sanjeev Sharma in his Keynote address enlightened the audience regarding latest technologies and breakthroughs in the field of science and technology to protect the delicate Himalayan ecosystem. He emphasized on the involvement of local communities to protect the environment as their livelihood are directly affected by it.

Prof. G. M. Bhat, Rector Bhaderwah Campus in his address highlighted the importance of clean environment and a need for a pro-active approach to protect it. He further added that the seminars and conferences merely remain a lip service if we do not convert our words into actions.

Mr Chhering Tandup I/C HoD Dept. of Geography who was organizing secretary of the seminar joined the function through video conferencing. The seminar was attended by a galaxy of participants and delegates across the fields. The keynote address was followed by paper presentations and question answer session. 

Mr. Mohd Qasim Mir and Mutup Tashi were the overall coordinators of the programme. The seminar was attended by teacher, students and scholars of the campus besides prominent personalities from bhaderwah town and journalists from electronic and print media. 

At the end Mr. Rohit Bhagat, Assistant Professor, TBS delivered formal vote of thanks.
