A man drowned after falling into a canal in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Wednesday, police said.

A police official said that the deceased, Zubair Ahmed Khan (35), slipped  into the Preng-Ganderbal water canal of Ganderbal power house near his home in Sarch-Bala Nunar village.

He said the body was retrieved after joint efforts by locals and police and later handed over to the next of kin after completion of medico-legal formalities.
