Geneva:India is likely to make a strong statement at the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva on Tuesday,
days after a report alleged human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir. Last Thursday,
the UN issued its first-ever report on alleged human rights violation in Kashmir and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
It further called for an international investigation into the matter. New Delhi had reacted sharply to the UN report,
calling it “fallacious and motivated”.
The Indian government also officially protested at the UN,
saying it is “deeply concerned that individual prejudices are being allowed to undermine the credibility of a UN institution.”
