Jammu:
Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India released the list of top Universities of the Country and University of Jammu finds place in the list, securing 51st rank, thereby improving its rank by 12 places.

The University had volunteered to participate in the National Institutional Ranking Framework introduced by the Ministry of Human Resource Development in 2016 and had secured 64th and 63rdrank in 2016 and 2017 respectively. According to Dr. Meenakshi Kilam, Director, DIQA, the process involved online submission of extensive data pertaining to different aspects of functioning of the University namely teaching-learning resources, research, professional practice & collaborative performance, graduate outcomes, outreach & inclusivity and perception.  She further added that “Securing 51st rank this year after securing 64th and 63rd rank in last two years, is a step towards sustenance and enhancement of quality” and she attributed the grand success of the university in accreditations and rankings to the leadership provided by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. R.D. Sharma.

It is pertinent to mention here that the number of participating Institutions this year was more than 4000 institutions which was substantially higher as compared to the last two years.

Further, 716 Institutions/Universities had applied under the Management Category and University of Jammu submitted data with respect to The Business School, School of Hospitality & Tourism and International Centre for Cross-Cultural Research and Human Resource Management for being assessed under the Management Category.

University of Jammu finds place in the band of 76-100 institutions under the category of Management.

Expressing his satisfaction over the rankings, Prof. R.D.Sharma, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu said “the University will maintain and improve its standards of academics, research, outreach, infrastructure and student support”. Giving credit to all the stakeholders, he expressed gratitude towards Chancellor and Pro-Chancellor and members of the Civil Society for their support and guidance. He added that “the level of efforts of the faculty, officers, staff, scholars and students can be gauged from the fact that the University is consistently performing well in accreditations and rankings by different agencies”. University of Jammu has been accredited as A+ University by NAAC for the five year period 2016-2021 and also declared as one of the 12 Category 1 State Universities of the country by UGC.
