JU organizes One Day National Seminar on Curricular Concerns For Quality in Teacher Education

Department of Education organized a one day National Seminar on Curricular Concerns for quality in Teacher Education under UGC SAP DRS II of the Department . The inaugural session started today morning with tilak ceremony by school children on campus followed by a prayer by the students of the Department. Prof. Riyaz Punjabi, former, vice chancellor University of Kashmir in his  keynote address talked about the role of curriculum and teachers in teacher education programs. Prof Riyaz also elaborated value inculcation, yoga education, guidance and counsel long, history, culture besides a workshop on human rights. He appreciated the role of Dogra rulers in promoting education in the state.
 Prof Rajiv Rattan Sharma Head Department of Education presented formal welcome address. Prof Mubarak Singh Coordinator UGC SAP DRS II spoke on the theme of the seminar and elaborated the growth of education in Jammu and Kashmir State. Prof Mubarak Singh highlighted the role of NCTE, NPE and NCFTE in curriculum planning and implementation for quality in teacher education. Prof Renu Nanda moved the vote of thanks. The valedictory session started with tilak and prayer. Prof Mubarak Singh welcomed the chief guest, delegates and invitees. Prof Renu Nanda shared the proceedings of the seminar. Prof Manoj K Dhar Vice Chancellor Univesity of Jammu, the Chief Guest at the valedictory function appreciated the efforts of the department and  emphasised on the fact that there is a need to change the curriculum to make it student friendly. Dr Kajal Devi Manhas moved the vote of thanks. Earlier, Prof Dhruv Raina, Zakir Hussain Centre of Educational Studies JNU delivered the valedictory address where in he talked about interdisciplinary approach and multidiscilinarity. He gave very interesting examples to elaborate the existing problems in school curriculum in general and teacher education curriculum in particular. In all seven technical sessions where in nearly 100 papers were presented by delegates from different universities and colleges. These sessions were chaired by Prof. Nighat Basu Professor Teacher Education School of Education Central Univesity of Kashmir, Prof Kulvinder Singh Professor of Education Punjabi Univesity Patiala, Prof. Rajeev Rattan Sharma Head P.G. Department of Education Univesity of Jammu, Prof. Mubarak Singh, Prof Darshna Sharma Dean Faculty of Education Univesity of Jammu, Prof. Mahmood Ahmed Khan Prof. Of Education Univesity of Kashmir, Prof Rajendra Pal CIET NCERT and Dr Kajal Devi Manhas Assistant Professor Department of Education University of Jammu. Dr Kajal Devi Manhas moved the vote of thanks. The seminar culminated with National Anthem.
Among others Prof Arti Bakshi Head Department of Psychology, Prof Vishwaraksha Head Department of Sociology, Dr Kavita Suri Head Department of Life Long Learning, Prof Rakesh Vaid Head Department of Electronics, Prof Rampal Head Department of Environmental Sciences, Dr Reva, Dr Pallavi, Prof Pankaj Srivastava Head Department of Geology, Prof G M Bhat, Dr V K Bhutyal, and Dr Neeraj Sharma were also present on the occasion.
