The closing ceremony of the 2nd State Universities Sports Championship 2018 was held today at the University Sports Stadium. Prof. Jigar Mohammad, Dean Research Studies, University of Jammu was the Chief Guest of the closing ceremony. Prof. Jigar Mohd distributed trophies, medals and certificates to the players of the winner teams. He also complimented all the participating teams. 

The welcome address and detail report of the championship was presented by Dr. Daud Iqbal Baba, Director, Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu.

The vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Komal Nagar, Assistant Director, Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu.

The final match of the Cricket (Men) Championship was held today in the morning session, which was won by the Cluster University Srinagar after beating the University of Kashmir by 24 runs.

The overall Championship was retained by the University of Jammu by winning Badminton (M), Cricket (W), Badminton (W), Basketball (W), Volleyball (W) and Table Tennis (W) championship and silver trophies of Football (M), Basketball (M), Volleyball (M) and Table Tennis (M) Championship.

The proceedings of closing ceremony were conducted by Sh. Ramesh Magotra, Ms. Drishti Sharma & Mr. Mehul Puri.

Others present on the occasion were Prof. Sushil Pandey, Prof. K.A. Tarzan, Dr. Ramesh Kumar, Sh. Suresh Sharma, Executive Engineer (UWD), Deepak Handa, Sh. H.S. Chib, , Pawan Singh Bhau, Sh., Amit Tagotra, Irfan Goni, Dr. Brij Baloria, Rectors/Directors,HoD of various departments and students and staff of the University of Jammu as well as the Directorate of Sports & Physical Education.

Prof. R.D. Sharma, Vice-Chancellor University of Jammu congratulated the players of the University of Jammu for retaining the overall Championship this year also.
