Jammu and Kashmir: Soldier killed during ceasefire violation in Rajouri, says Army

Rajouri:In an unprovoked ceasefire violation by Pakistan on the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district on Saturday an Indian soldier was martyred. Identifying the deceased as Launce Naik Yogesh Muralidhar Bhadane, 28, sources said the Indian troops retaliated strongly and effectively. "However, in the exchange of fire, Lance Naik Yogesh Muralidhar Bhadane, was grievously injured and succumbed to his injuries", said the official. Hailing from Maharashtra's Khalane village in Dhule district, he is survived by his wife Punam Yogesh. The firing exchange lasted around 15 minutes, and both sides used small arms. 2017 had seen more than 500 ceasefire violations along India's worldwide borders, which was a 230 per cent rise from 2016 in which Pakistan violated ceasefire 450 times, killing 13 civillians and as many security personnel. On 23 December, an army major and three soldiers were killed along the LoC in Rajouri and in retaliatory action, Indian troops killed three Pakistani soldiers in Pakistan- occupied Kashmir two days later.
