Five forest guards injured in smugglers’ attack in Sopore

Five guards of the forest department were injured after they were attacked by timber smugglers in Cherhar area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Reports said the forest guards were attacked with sharp edged weapons yesterday after they raided timber smugglers in Cherhar forest area.

The injured have been identified as Farooz Ahmad, Irshad Ahmad, Shahzad Ahmad, Abdul Kareem and Tahir Ahmad.

An official of the department said they have lodged a complaint with the police against the smugglers.
