Srinagar:
Scores of Under Graduate students from different Kashmir colleges staged a protest demonstration here on Tuesday against the Kashmir University authorities, demanding reduction in syllabus and examination of their backlog papers forthwith.

The students assembled at Pratap Park here holding placards that read: “We want justice and KU is playing with our future”.
The students said that they have started their UG courses in 2015 and were supposed to finish them in 2017, but they are still left with two semesters.

“Since we have lost lot of our time already, the varsity authorities have decided to take our 5th and 6th semester exam jointly and we are expected to prepare and study two semesters in three months which otherwise take twelve months. Due to this reason we asked authorities to reduce our syllabus but they are not accepting it”, said Moheeb Ahmed, a student of Degree College Bemina.

“Is it possible to study and prepare two semesters in three months?” he asked.

The students also said that the result of their 1st semester backlog subjects that was conducted in 2015 is yet to be declared and University is yet to conduct exam of 2nd and 3rd semester backlog subjects.

Officials from colleges met students in a bid to pursue them to call off their protest, assuring them that their grievances will be addressed.
