Jammu:
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Chander Mohan Gupta was on Thursday elected as the new mayor of Jammu municipal corporation (JMC).

While Gupta polled 45 votes, his nearest rival, Vijay Choudhary, an Independent backed by the Congress got 30 votes.

Gupta was a treasurer in J&K unit of the BJP. He won in the municipal election from ward number 33 in Jammu West.

Urban local body elections were held in Jammu and Kashmir in four phases from October 8 to 16.
