Jammu:The Socio-political Activist Syed Karar Hashmi appeals the honorable Government Satya Pal Malik to revoke ban on Muharram processions in Kashmir as
government is violating their religious rights under the excuse of law and order problem, In the heart of state capital Srinagar, the processions are not allowed along the traditional route –that begins from Abi Guzar, passes through Maisuma and ends at Zadibal. The 8th Muharram Procession was the largest procession of mourners being taken out traditionally in Srinagar led by senior leaders.
At contemporary our leaders are being detained, on the other hand, people want leaders to meet and hold consultations regarding preparations for the procession and other rituals. Syed Karar Hashmi said in a statement that, it is the responsibility of state apparatus to make smooth arrangements to facilitate procession as it is our fundamental right to practicing religion. Why strict restrictions are been placed, Police and paramilitary forces are been deployed, pedestrian as well as vehicular movement are barred and well placed razor fitted wire on the main roads of procession are been seen across on such days ? Need to place proper arrangements in place , so that processions will be peacefully organised across state.
The said ban has proved that so called themselves the lovers of peace have fake claims and weak theories in their pockets to befool the world community. Both Shia and Sunni Muslims are taking part on Muharram Procession and let revoking of ban give a clear message of peace in the valley. Hashmi added
Hashmi appeals Honorable Governor Satya pal Malik and other top high ups to release Shia detained leaders urgently, so that people will hold consultation with them and arrangements will be put in place accordingly during this auspicious month of Muharram
