New Delhi:Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee is on full life support and is in critical condition. A statement released on Wednesday night, by All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) claimed that his condition has worsened during the last 24 hours.
The 93-year old former Prime Minister had been admitted on June 11 due to kidney tract infection, chest congestion, and low urine output. His condition has been declining rapidly and has been on the life support system for two days. He had suffered a stroke in 2009 that weakened his cognitive abilities. Subsequently, he developed dementia.
Last evening, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited AIIMS to meet the ailing former political leader. Just hours after the PM's visit, the medical institute released the statement declaring that his condition is critical. Earlier this morning, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu was also seen leaving the premises of the hospital. Various BJP leaders are visiting the hospital to take stock of the former PM's health.
