New Delhi:Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday said that former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah has not been put under house arrest at all.

In an exclusive interview  Amit Shah said, "Farooq Abdullah was not under house arrest."

When asked that Farooq Abdullah had claimed that he wasn't being allowed to leave the house, Amit Shah said, "When someone is kepy under house arrest, the police station has to be informed within 24 hours."

"There are records available. People have enquired as well and it has been proved that farooq Abdullah was not under house arrest," Amit Shah said.

When asked about former Chief Ministers Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, Amit Shah said, "They are in detention under the Public Safety Act.

Earlier in August, Home Minister Amit SHah informed Lok Sabha that Farooq Abdullah is neither under detention nor arrest and he is at his home of his own will.

He made these remarks when Supriya Sule (NCP) said Abdullah used to sit next to him in the House. She said he is not in House and his voice is not being heard.

"He is neither under detention nor under arrest. He is at his home on his own will," Amit Shah said.

However, a day after Article 370 was revoked, Farooq Abdullah said there was a big padlock on his door and he had to "force himself" to come out and speak to the media.

"I heard the statement of the home minister of India that Farooq Abdullah is free and is staying in the house out of his own will. I thought how he can be lying when a DSP has been placed outside my house and no one can come in and no one can go out," Farooq Abdullah had said.
