Srinagar:A girl sustained splinter injuries after suspected militants lobbed a grenade towards a beauty parlour in Pulwama district of south Kashmir, Thursday afternoon.
A police officer said that suspected militants attacked the "Rani Beauty Parlour" at around 3:45 pm near Rajpora Chowk.
A girl identified as Shabeena received minor injuries in the blast and has been hospitalized, he said, adding that the parlour also suffered damage.
Soon after the attack police and CRPF arrived on the spot –though after facing some stone-pelting -- and launched a hunt to nab the attackers, police said.
Meanwhile, masked gunmen today robbed a bank in Bijbehara area of Anantnag district, decamping with several lakh rupees, a police official said.
He said while the bank officials were calculating the exact amount of cash robbed by the gunmen, the rough estimates put the amount at around Rs five lakh.
"Three to four gunmen barged into the Jammu and Kashmir Bank branch at Marhama in Bijbehara this afternoon and decamped with cash from the premises," the official said.
Several incidents of bank robberies have taken place in the Kashmir Valley over the past two years.
Blaming the robbery on the militants, a police spokesman said a case (FIR no. 171/2017) under section 398, 454, 427 RPC, 7/25 A. Act was registered in Police Station Bijbehara and investigation was started.
“During preliminary investigation it came to fore that two Hizbul Mujahideen militants identified as Rasik Nabi Bhat alias Owais, son of Ghulam Nabi Bhat, resident of Nowdal (Kirman Mohalla), and Salia Mohammad Akhoon alias Rehaan, son of Ghulam Mohammad Akhoon, resident of Arampora Gurikadal Medoora Tral, are involved in the robbery,” police spokesman said in a statement here.
