Porter, soldier killed as Indo-Pak armies trade fire on LoC

Jammu:An army soldier and a civilian porter were killed while six others sustained injuries during exchange of fire between the India and Pakistan armies near Line of Control in Poonch district on Thursday, an official said.
“The Pakistan army initiated unprovoked and indiscriminate firing of small arms and automatics from Krishnagati area along the LoC,” an army spokesman said.
He said that the Army retaliated strongly and effectively. “Firing continued till late in the afternoon.”
During the exchange of fire, sepoy TK Reddy and defence porter Muhammad Zahir were grievously injured and they succumbed to their injuries, he said, adding that six soldiers were wounded and are under treatment.
The army spokesman said that sepoy Reddy, 21, hailed from Andhra Pradesh and is survived by his mother.  Muhammad Zahir, 22, was a resident of Rajouri district.
