69th Republic Day Celebrated at JU

The 69th Republic Day of India was celebrated with great enthusiasm & patriotic fervour at the University of Jammu. 
Prof. R.D. Sharma, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu unfurled the National Flag which will now remain permanently installed at the roof-top of Dhanvantri Library and released the Tri-Colour Balloons. 
Extending Republic Day greetings to the Students, Faculty, Officers and the Staff, Prof. Sharma paid  rich tributes to the great leaders and soldiers and said that it is because of their selfless sacrifice and prolonged struggle that the people of this nation are now living as free citizens. While greeting the University fraternity, Prof. Sharma said that we all must pay tributes to our great Nation by being active, sincere and punctual in our duties. By being dutiful and responsible citizens, we can take our Nation to further great heights.
The Vice Chancellor called upon all the stakeholders of the University to set their goals of creation and dissemination of knowledge in order create the knowledgeable society as the growth of the Nation is associated with the growth of the Youth.
Prof Sharma further said that our nation is witnessing resurgence and in order to be in line with the latest developments taking place globally, it is imperative for all of us to keep track of these developments especially in the educational setup so that our youth do not lag behind in any discipline.
Earlier Prof. Satnam Kour, Dean Students Welfare, delivered the welcome address and greeted the august gathering on this auspicious occasion. 
At the arrival of the Vice-Chancellor, Guard of Honour was presented to him by the Jammu University Security Guards led by Capt. S.R. Dubey, Security Officer of the University. On this occasion, Patriotic songs by were also presented by children which included  Riya Jandyal and  Kamya Langer. A patriotic group song was also presented by the students of Institute of Music & Fine Arts which was composed by Sh. Suraj Singh. A mime on the theme of Nationalism was  presented by the students of the University of Jammu.Sweets were also distributed on the occasion.
Dr. Anupama Vohra, Associate Dean Students Welfare presented the formal vote of thanks whereas the programme was conducted by Ms. Shivika Thakur. The function was attended by a large gathering of the Faculty, Senior functionaries, Officers, Non teaching staff, Students and the Scholars of the University.
The event was coordinated by Dr. Parmil Kumar and Dr. A.R. Mahnas, Dr. Vinay Thussu and was managed by Sh. Sumeet Sharma, Ms. Ifra Kak and Sh. Balwant Singh.
