Srinagar:Continuing its drive against violators, traffic police on Saturdaychallaned 40 vehicles in Pulwama and seized a government vehicle in the south Kashmir district.
Reports reaching GNS said that a team of traffic police department comprising DySP Traffic for Pulwama-Shopian range Sheikh Mudasir and SO Pulwama SI Abdul Rashid in a drive against traffic violators challaned 40 vehicles including 18 tippers and 22 light motor vehicles in Pulwama town.
A government vehicle bearing registration number JK01A- 9695 belonging to SDD Pulwama was also seized.
Both court and compound challan have been served to the violators, and a compound fine of Rs 5400 has been slapped on them.
The officials urged the people to follow traffic rules in order to streamline it.
Meanwhile, the general public of the area hailed the move of the traffic department for acting tough against violators particularly the negligent driving of tippers in the area. (GNS)
