Thirteen Congress candidates have been elected unopposed in Dooru-Verinag municipal committee, the polling for which was scheduled today.

Voting was not held for any of 17 wards of Dooru-Verinag municipal committee as 13 Congress candidates were elected unopposed following withdrawal of nomination by ten BJP candidates.

No nominations were filed for the rest four wards.

The area falls in the home constituency of JKPCC chief GA Mir who lost to PDP’s Farooq Andrabi in 2014 elections.

Mir was elected from here in 2002 and 2008.
